John McDonnell MP (Labour, Hayes and Harlington), the Shadow Chancellor, and the founder and co-chair of the Shaker Aamer Parliamentary Group, and Andy Worthington and Joanne MacInnes, the co-founders and co-directors of We Stand With Shaker, at the launch of a new campaign, Fast For Shaker, on October 15 outside Parliament. Celebrities, MPs and members of the public are being encouraged to show solidarity with Shaker Aamer, who is on a hunger strike in Guantánamo and fears for his life, despite being told on September 25 that he will be freed soon, by pledging to undertake a hunger strike of their own for a minimum of 24 hours, on a day of their choosing.
