Rebecca Long-Bailey MP (Labour, Salford and Eccles) supports We Stand With Shaker and signed the recent open letter to President Obama calling for Shaker Aamer’s release from Guantánamo and his safe return to his family in the UK. She is also a member of the cross-party Shaker Aamer Parliamentary Group. She says, “Imagine being locked away from your own family for 13 gruelling years and you have never been charged or tried with any crime. It’s the stuff horror movies are made of but it is really happening! The continued detention of Shaker Aamer is inhumane and morally unjustifiable … the world is watching.”
