The actress Maxine Peake supports We Stand With Shaker, and says, “It’s disgraceful that Shaker Aamer is still held in Guantánamo, despite being cleared for release by the US authorities eight years ago. The British government is clearly not doing enough to secure his return. I have asked my MP, Hazel Blears, to attend Tuesday’s Parliamentary debate about Shaker’s case, at 4.30 in the main chamber of the House of Commons. Please write to your MP as well, to ask them to attend. It is time Shaker’s long ordeal is brought to an end.”
