He is the last British prisoner in the prison, although President Bush had approved his release in 2007 and President Obama in 2009. Despite not being charged, he has often gone on hunger strike to peacefully protest the appalling conditions and brutal treatment to which he and other prisoners have been subjected. The British Government has repeatedly stated that they want him released and returned to his family in London. It is a disgrace that he is still being held.”
