Actress Vanessa Redgrave supports the release of Shaker Aamer from Guantánamo. As she said seven years ago, when Omar Deghayes and Jamil El-Banna, two other British residents, were released from the prison, “Guantánamo Bay is a concentration camp. It is a disgrace that these men have been kept there all these years.”

Vanessa was photographed on Human Rights Day (Dec. 10) in Parliament Square at the reading of excerpts from Shaker’s Declaration of No Human Rights, which he wrote in Guantánamo in response to the US betrayal of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Actor and director Mark Rylance was also there to read from Shaker’s words. We Stand With Shaker organised the event as part of the weekly vigil staged by the Save Shaker Aamer Campaign.
